I’m taking some time to post on this personal leadership blog of mine. If you haven’t been to my Transformational Leadership Blog, take a look at a series I’m working on right about Leadership Principles for Young People, the latest article is about Understanding Where You Are.

I came across two articles about productivity. But instead of proposing several ways to manage time, these articles recommend doing less and doing everything within a set period of time.

That could work!

The problem with schedules, at times, is that I tend to diddle daddle throughout the day and try to get things done in between. So, at any given hour, I’ll be checking my email, my Google Adsense account, the analytics of my blog and all the other websites I want, but don’t need, to check.

Jim Collins remembers a comment made to him: “Your genetic energy level enables your lack of discipline. Instead of leading a disciplined life, you lead a busy life.”

Through that conversation, Jim Collins looked at his habits and tried to streamline his own habits. He came up with three (3) lessons that could guide us in pursuing the right work attitude:

1) What are you deeply passionate about?
2) What are you are genetically encoded for — what activities do you feel just “made to do”?
3) What makes economic sense — what can you make a living at?
